Introducing Olive

On Wednesday, December 29, on an extremely stormy winter night, Olive finally arrived.  Although she kept us guessing for a few weeks, when she finally decided it was time to come, she wasted no time.  After arriving at the hospital around 9:30p, Olive was born at 11:38p, weighing 6lbs 5 oz and 19.5 inches long.

Daddy almost missed it when he stepped out at of the room around 11p to walk Grandpa Kurt and London to the parking lot to move the car seat and get her overnight bag.  They were going to go home and get a nap as we though it would be 3 or 4 more hours at least.

When the Dr. came in to admit Mom, he did a quick check and said, "We're having a baby right now!"  I  quickly made a cell phone call to Brandon and he ran in.  A second call to Kurt, telling him he might as well come back as I thought it would be very soon.  They had only been in the waiting room for about 5 minutes when I walked out and told London she had a sister.  She was sooo excited!!  Five or ten minutes later, London got to come in an see her sister.

Ashley got to her room about 1a, and while London really wanted to hold her sister, she wanted her to be "dressed".  She was a bit freaked out by the "cord thingy" and wanted Olive to have a bath and have clothes on . . . a tightly wrapped blanket wasn't barrier enough.

In the morning, when she was cleaned and dressed, London did get to hold her.  She is going to be a wonderful big sister.

Grandpa Kurt even got a turn.
I wasn't afraid and got to hold her before her bath or getting dressed, but I had to have my turn the next day too!
We are all so excited to have another little girl in our family.  Thanks Brandon and Ashley!  We couldn't have gotten a better Christmas/New Years present.
