Closing out Summer

Summer 2010 is officially in the books and didn't it just fly by.  Well, it did for us.  We spent the past week (Sept 28th - Oct 1) in Star Valley, closing up for the winter.  Well, mostly we enjoyed a week off, but the last couple of days were spent packing up to bring the 5th wheel home.

We were extremely happy with our new Carri-Lite home away from home.  We loved the Holiday Rambler, but we really loved having more space.  Especially this summer, as we spent a great deal of the first few months, inside due to rain.  We didn't leave it up this year as there were a few warranty items we need the dealer to check out.  Come on - - not being able to hook up the satellite dish in the bedroom IS a big deal! :-)

Mom and Bob pulled the golf cart home for us as Kurt wants to do some refurbishing over the winter.  Although, I'll bet refurbishing entials, selling it and buying a newer one.  So he it was much easier to organize the shed without having to work around the cart.

But before we tackled the hard work, we had a good time and slept in almost every day. Kurt did a lot of fishing and I took the opportunity to make Ashley's baby shower invitations. We played a little golf and spent some time in Jackson.

On the day we got up early, it was to head to Jackson for a day on the river. We spent the morning on the Snake with Gray, our college graduate (Economics) river guide. I'm sure his parents are thrilled with the way he's putting that education to work! We didn't see any wildlife, but we did spot at least a dozen Bald Eagles. It was beautiful and I can't think of a better way to see all the fall foilage.


After a quick lunch, we jumped in another raft for the white water portion of the trip.  With the water levels being fairly low, it wasn't the wildest ride we've ever had, but Big Kahuna was still a lot of fun and we even had a couple more Bald Eagle fly-bys.


Wyoming saw us off by giving us the best weather of the season. Every day was between 74-78 degrees.  In the afternoon, it felt almost like there was NO temperature.  Not to hot and not to cold, without a cloud in the sky.  While we weren't the last ones out this year, there weren't many folks left behind.
